Okay, here's a bit of a rant.

I live in Sunderland, England, and at the moment I've kept my self job free in order to keep up with Uni work. Now the summer is coming I'm looking for a job to keepp me going over summer... and hopefully for the rest of my course (doing photography, just incase you don't know ).

Now, I haven't been looking very long, or very hard at the moment, as I've only recently decided to look for one, but what I'm about to rant about is an issue I've found to be true everytime i've looked for a job.

It's so bloody hard to get one around here! You hand out C.V's left, right and centre with ALL your contact details on, and something which lets the companies know when you're available etc. They tell you when you hand them in, "Oh we'll be in touch very soon" or if they're not taking people on they'll say "Oh leave your C.V and we'll keep it on file for future reference".

Yet it's very rare any of them ever get back to you, heck there must be a few places I've freuently gave a fresh C.V too every 6 month, since I left school 4 years ago.

Still nothing from most of them, I've literally ever had about 10 replies in the 4 years I've been out of school and looking for jobs. Yeah okay I haven't been looking for a job for them whoe 4 years, I've had the odd job, by pure chance, here and there.

I'd like to think I have a good C.V. and looking at some of the people that they took on over me when I've went back in to ask, I'd like to say I'm more competent than the majority of people these companies are hiring.

Take HMV for instance... I've handed in MANY C.Vs to more than one store and kept them pretty up-to-date but they never get back to me, and when I've seen who they've took on and talk to them when I buy something, I always leave thinking "Christ, you're telling me I'm not as good as him!?"

Okay I sound big headed, but I need a job and I think I could do these jobs just aswell, if not better than the people they're hiring.

Now the reason I stared this, last night a mate told me the club he works in are taking on staff and he'd talk to them and recommend me to them to take the job, he does, and they tell him to get me to go along with him tonight for a quick chat and to see when I'm available etc, I went there with him, and all I got when my mate came back was "He says he'll take your phone number and ring you in a few days"

WHAT!? After I just wasted 20mins travelling to the place, to get told that?! He probably won't even get in touch which is VERY frustrating. Add to that when I walked out, the bouncer was making cracks about my hair and dress sense. Very annoyed that they pissed me around and probably wont get back to me.

Anyway, apoligies for the rant, but the employment around here sucks, the sooner I start getting paid for my photo's the better! haha!
